There will be minor ongoing construction until the grand opening celebration
takes place in late September. Check back for updates.
Project Description
The City of Sherwood is building a better and safer way for people biking and walking to cross Highway 99W: a 900-foot long bicycle and pedestrian bridge over the highway. It is just north of the intersection of Sunset Boulevard/Elwert Road, between the Sherwood Family YMCA and Sherwood High School.
Project Benefits
Safety: eliminate or reduce vehicle/pedestrian conflicts and exposure
Desirability: minimize out of direction travel for pedestrians
Accessibility: provide crossing opportunities for all pedestrians and bicyclists
Connectivity: integrate the crossing with the existing and planned trail network to connect Sherwood across Hwy 99W
Beauty: create an opportunity to welcome individuals to Sherwood through design or lighting features
Efficiency: provide high benefits for the City of Sherwood at a cost commensurate with similar facilities
Timeline
Construction began in February 2024 and the bridge will be open to bikes and pedestrians beginning on August 26. Final landscaping and punch list repairs will be completed prior to the grand opening event, which is tentatively scheduled for late September, 2025.
Ribbon Cutting Event Coming in September
Join us to celebrate the grand opening of the bridge! This community event's date is not yet confirmed, but may take place on September 27, 2025. Check back for details.
